
Orphanage Volunteer Program in Ghana
Overview
Many orphaned
and abandoned children in Ghana are raised in underfunded care homes where
extra support is essential. As a volunteer in our Orphanage Program, you’ll
play a vital role in the lives of these children by offering care, love,
education, and encouragement.
This is a
highly rewarding experience for compassionate individuals who want to make a
positive impact while experiencing Ghana’s culture firsthand.

Volunteer Role
You will work
closely with local staff to create a nurturing and stimulating environment.
Your tasks may include:
- Assisting children with homework
and reading
- Organizing games, music, arts
& crafts
- Helping with bathing, dressing, or
meals (depending on age group)
- Teaching basic English, numbers,
or hygiene habits
- Supporting general operations and
facility upkeep
No professional
childcare experience is required, just patience, energy, and kindness.
Typical Day
- 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM: Breakfast
- 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Help with morning activities,
prepare children for school
- 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch & break
- 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Afternoon lessons, play, or
support tasks
- 4:30 PM onward: Free time or help with dinner
preparation and evening routines
Schedules may
vary depending on the orphanage’s structure and children's school hours.
Start Dates & Arrival
Volunteers can
start any Monday of the year.
You’ll be welcomed at Kotoka International Airport (ACC), Accra, and
taken to your placement.
Upon arrival, we’ll provide a full orientation, including a cultural
briefing and local area tour.

Free Time Activities
During your
weekends, explore Ghana’s rich culture and nature. Visit bustling markets,
serene beaches, waterfalls, and historic slave castles. You can join fellow
volunteers on day trips to Cape Coast, Kakum National Park, or Mole Safari
Park.

We offer
affordable and transparent pricing:
- 2 weeks: USD 685
- 4 weeks: USD 1,370
- 6 weeks: USD 2,055

Accommodation
& Meals
Volunteers will stay in a comfortable and secure volunteer house in Accra. The facility includes shared rooms with western toilets, running water, electricity. You will receive two local home-cooked meals daily—breakfast and dinner.
